1 Merlin (probably adult female) - observed continuously for 2 hours 20 minutes. Located perched on a gatepost but hopped down onto the ground shortly afterwards and spent 2-3 minutes running around in short grass inspecting thick tussocks. At the fifth clump of grass she lunged in and grabbed a small passerine, probably Meadow Pipit. The falcon carried the prey back to a fence post, plucked and consumed it over the next 30 minutes. She remained in the area resting and occasionally preening.
1 Peregrine (adult, probably male) - hunting out over the marshes stirring up flocks Lapwing and Golden Plover.
4 Common Kestrel - an adult male flew in carrying a small mammal, perched on a fence post close to the Merlin, and consumed its prey unhindered. The other three were hover-hunting.
3 Common Buzzard - two on low perches and one on the ground.
1 Short-eared Owl - reported by Dick Best quartering the marshes near the river bank.
