Unusual Thrush

This afternoon 14/12/14 we had flock of about 5+ black birds (male + female + sa male)+ one which was about the same size as BB the back was lighter than a male BB (greyish)
but darker than the female BB, the throat was very darkly marked extending onto the top of chest then the striation became less prominent .the trouble was the light wasn`t good & the flock was very mobile. my first thought was black throated thrush??( never seen one before)but looking through books I`m not sure!! Any idea`s. cheers Chris Thorne

Re: Unusual Thrush

Fieldfare maybe?

Re: Unusual Thrush

Cheers James, Thought about Fieldfare,I know they vary greatly, but this one was pretty uniform greyish/black over head/back. Thanks for the reply Chris
