The first flush of autumn thrushes dropped into my orchard this morning between 10.00 and 10.30. Some of them had a quick feed and then went on there way. there were 17 redwing, 2 fieldfare, 6 mistle thrushes and a song thrush. Also seen during the same period was a ringed female blackcap (most probably a returning bird from last winter). A male had been noted in the garden earlier in the morning. Unfortunately, the weather was not suitable to deploy the nets !
