Field meeting this Saturday at Steart

A reminder the next field meeting is this Saturday (11th) at 09:30 at Steart. The meeting place will be the Natural England Car Park (ST275459) in Steart itself not the new WWT Steart Marshes Car Park. The plan is to go to the Point for high tide and then to come back and look over the new reserve.
If you have not been to the new reserve then it will give you a chance to see all the works that have been carried out and how it is looking now the high tides have flooded into the channels and scrapes that have been created. It also an opportunity to have a look before the next indoor meeting at Ruishton Village Hall at 7:30pm on Thursday October 23rd when Tim McGrath from WWT will be talking about the creation of this new wetland.

Re: Field meeting this Saturday at Steart

Thanks to Brian Gibbs and Dick Best for leading this well-attended meeting at Steart. Good numbers of common passerine migrants in evidence, with a steady Swallow passage. Highlights included a Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 3 Ruff and some distant Avocets. Butterflies on the wing included around 10 Clouded Yellows in various places, and 3 Walls.
