Avalon Marshes 20th August

Shapwick Heath NNR: Osprey still on Noah's, seen to catch a fish at c10am and again at c5pm. 4 Great White Egrets on Meare Heath scrape, 2 young Water Rail in the reeds at the back of the scrape, Green Sandpiper flew east over.

Ham Wall RSPB: 3 Great White Egrets, 2 Garganey, 1 Green Sandpiper at 2VP this morning. 6 GWE and 2 Greenshank reported there earlier

Westhay SWT: 3 Hobby

Catcott SWT: 3 Whinchat just to the left of the hide this afternoon.

On the 20th (11am -1pm)

Noahs:
Water rail emerged close to Noahs hide.

Osprey showed well for a good 20 minutes then flew and caught a smallish fish. Returned to a more distant tree.

Kingfisher flyby.
