Shapwick Heath (Hobbies and Osprey) - 17 August 2014 (Afternoon)

5 Hobbies - all insecting quite high above the site and including at least one 2cy individual.

6 Marsh Harrier (5 juveniles and 1 adult female) - lots of aerial activity with up to four juveniles in the air a the same time seemingly practicing their flying skills in the strong WSW winds.

1 Osprey - perched on dead trees in Noah's Lake. Observed three successful fishing excursions, one within the lake and two at Decoy Pond. All fish captured were small and appeared an orangish colour.

11+ Common Buzzard - singles or groups of up to four soaring around, including quite high up.

Also:

18-20 Common Swift - above Noah's Lake and Meare Heath.
250+ Sand Martins and House Martins admixed (50:50)
4 Great White Egret - 2 Noah's Lake, 1 over 70 Acres and 1 on Meare Heath Lagoon.
3 Black-tailed Godwit
20 Lapwing
1 Bittern - flying around the edge of Noah's Lake.
1 Cetti's Warbler
