Bird of Prey I.D.

Bird of prey seen from some distance by a compatriot of mine. Photos are on the blog (scroll down a bit and you will see them!)

Marsh harrier or something different?

Re: Bird of Prey I.D.

Hi James,

I'm not sure that I've found the correct images but there are two photographs of a bird of prey flying away carrying prey, apparently taken on 21 July 2014 and labelled 'Hen Harrier with Prey (A Chick)'. I believe the raptor depicted in both these images is a Sparrowhawk.

Best regards,

Nick

Re: Bird of Prey I.D.

You did find the right pictures. I think the author got a bit over excited and and named it Hen Harrier (he does that sometimes!). Thanks for the I.D.!
