Kennard Moor Drove

An early morning stroll produced a lot of warbler activity & song this morning. Plenty of Sedge Warbler with their ‘machine gun ‘ song and also Reed Warbler in the reeds on the right as you walk down to the river.
Several Whitethroat and Chiffchaff still quite vocal and a couple of Blackcap as well. Nice to see a couple of willow warbler, though now reduced to their ‘hew-it ‘call. These have always been quite rare on the patch and never more than the odd bird or two!
The highlight though were two Lesser Whitethroat, One typically in song from the middle of a dense bush, the other ‘tack – tacking’ high up in an oak tree.
Just a thought … has anyone else noticed how similar a part of the Wren’s song is to the Lesser Whitethroat’s usual rattle?
Also, usual Gold & Greenfinch, Linnet & Skylark
