Yellowhammer near Shapwick

An increasingly rare sight in central Somerset, a singing male Yellowhammer this morning along Kent Drove between the Hawk and Owl reserve at Shapwick Moor and Shapwick village.

Re: Yellowhammer near Shapwick

I also saw a male yellowhammer at the new hide on the Hawk & Owl resrve about a month ago, maybe they are breeding near.

Hi Brian, There have been a small number around the area for many years but they are usually farther south than the new hide where there is more arable cropping.
