May 1. Common Sandpiper and Whinchat

A wet start to the month but still plenty of birds on the move. There was a Common Sandpiper feeding on dead tree stumps in Noah's lake this morning, the usual mix of warblers, including 3 Garden Warblers singing in Shapwick Heath. At around 12.30, a nice male Whinchat was showing well on Tealham Moor, my first of the year, and a Sedge Warbler, a Skylark and a Meadow Pipit were all close by.
