I have been keeping an eye on a kingfisher nest over the last few weeks and was amazed to see tonight just how high the river had risen following a few heavy showers. Just goes to show how vulnerable these nests are to flooding.

Please note : I normally watch from a significant distance so as not to disturb these beautiful birds. I am very lucky in that this nesting hole is in such a open river bank and can clearly be seen from some way off.

Incidentally in the same bank appear to be a pair of nesting Sand Martins !!
