Re: Hinkley Point 18/1

Brent flock now up to 30+ at this morning's high tide on the border between Catsford and Wall commons. Difficult to hold the scope steady in the stiff north westerly but at least 1/3 were light bellied.

Disturbed a single storm driven kittiwake from the shingle bank.

Good numbers of pintail on the sea off Stolford and the usual shore birds with well over 100 turnstone

Re: Hinkley Point 18/1

25/01. Hinkley Point. Still one adult Little Gull at the cooling water outfall on this morning's high tide, but no Purple Sandpipers at the roost site, nor any sea duck (often difficult to find on a high tide - better on low tides when they are more likely to be feeding in shallower water off the Point).

Re: Hinkley Point 18/1

Adult little gull obligingly airborne near the sea wall at Hinkley, 12.30 today.
Also, 26 brent geese, mainly light-bellied, in the area with many pintail and wigeon but no diving duck.
