Walking with my wife along the Esplanade at Burnham-on-Sea we saw a small fluttering bird going from a bedroom terrace wall of a flat to the area around the pier and back.As it passed over us it was clear to see that it was a house martin, trying to catch some of the flies that seemed to be coming up from the beach.Thankfully for the little thing the temperatures are still fairly mild but what chance does it have ?
