Two swallows have been flying over the garden and then resting in the sun on a nearby cottage roof this morning. Possibly from a late brood somewhere. This is just after having Fieldfare, Redwing, Song Thrush and Blackbirds feeding together on my (untidy) lawn.
Hard to say, but according to the new Bird Atlas swallows appear on 1.4% of bird track lists in November and apparently are attempting to overwinter in some areas.
One swallow at least was still present in Burtle on Friday, possibly these are the same birds seen at the Avalon Marshes centre on Saturday.
