Kay and I saw 2 Water Rails together this morning at Greylake RSPB, looking along the waterlogged line of willows from the inclined boardwalk, immediately before the entrance into the new raised hide. However, I’ve since learnt that 7 were seen here yesterday!
At least 3 Water Rail in same place at Greylake this morning.
Even more surprising was an Otter happily patrolling around the lake in front of hide (and inside the FENCE), the duck were not the least bothered!
At greylake today from around 15:00 to 16:30
Saw 5 Water Rails together walking near the hides, also saw a huge number of lapwing and a single kestrel hovering over the path for a few minuets.
Around midday yesterday there were at least 8, possibly more, water rails amongst the flooded willows behind the new hide. They were very active and vocal too.
