A lengthy walk this afternoon around the paths and tracks of Rowberrow Warren was, eventually, rewarded with brief views of about a dozen Crossbills. They flew noisily (of course) over the treetops as I walked up the path that runs just inside the eastern edge of the trees. Looking at the map it appears that I caught sight of them just seconds before they departed Somerset air space!
Until then the highlights had been a party of Bullfinches feeding on some luscious red berries and a group of around 20 to 30 Fieldfare.
