Whilst driving home from Crealy we spotted an Osprey in the fields between the two garden centres on the A38 between Wellington and Taunton. First spotted on the ground we parked and observed it fly up to a telegraph pole. It then flew off to some large oak trees behind the field. Ben Hollands aged 10 and Joe Hollands aged 7.
Had been bugging me what an osprey was doing in this location as was first spotted on the ground presumably feeding but I wasn't aware of any sizeable water nearby ( thought the River Tone was a bit distant ), just checked on google maps and turns out there is a small lake between the 2 garden centres which looks very capable of having some decent fish in it. Never know might hang around for a day or two before continuing south.
