A very sunny walk around Black Down on the Mendips yesterday morning presented both a male and female Stonechat, several Skylarks, a Whitethroat and a Tree Pipit (my observation included a couple of song flights) and 3 very bold Roe Deer.
Keen to get feedback on whether this is the first report of Tree Pipits in this location as my song & behaviour identification skills, whilst improving (aided by Collins and the iPhone), are still at a 'developing' stage and I am looking for some validation. I was not close enough to be 100% certain from visual identification alone. Could have been Meadow Pipits (visually at least) but the fact that the song flight started from a tree, and knowledge gained at recent excellent Haddon Hill SOS walk make me certain enough to pose the question.
