Just a bit of general interest to this super record gleaned from various sources. Subspecies 'atrogularis' (Dark-throated) generally winters through Afghanistan, India and southern Asia. Nearly all winter records in UK and NW Europe are, apparently males (usually 1w) that may have been tempted to winter on breeding grounds east of the Urals by an abundant berry crop. The onset of severe weather is then thought to force them westwards.
Lets hope this bird finds Stoke St Gregory a good substitute for Delhi!
