Hi there, I don't know how to really explain as how I got to know Anita Mui but I was watching a movie (I don't even remember which movie now because I watched a lot of movies there) on YouTube and then somehow I clicked on one of the recommended videos and ended up watching a video of one of her birthday parties. The rest of day I ended up watching all of her birthday parties on YouTube. I was stunned and got really interested as I watched more and more of her interviews and read the stories shared by her fans. Because of my mom I grew up watching a lot of the HK TV series and listening to the Canto pops and never really paid attention to her or her songs. I wished I did then I would have been one of her fans and maybe even got to meet her in person. It's such an irony that of all the CD's and DVD's I have been bought over the years none of them is hers and now I wanted to find her concerts especially those from the 80's and 90's I couldn't get them anywhere. Does anyone know if it's still possible to get these in Toronto or online? Thanks so much!
Hi Sue, nice to hear from u. If u r interested in Mui's concert, u can order online via Yesasia.com . The last I checked they still have stock. On and off the record label do release older concert DVD. Just have to keep an eye on it. Enjoy.
Hi Snoopy, I just went and checked out yesasia and they only have her music show, her concert in Taiwan, and a music video karaoke I'll keep checking and watching more of her concerts from YouTube then.
Did u hav 87-88 concert? Mui Music show is also concert. Juz hav 2frequent chk along the times if they release more. Farewell concert?
I don't have any of her concerts that's why I would love to get at least 2 of my favourites, the 87-88 and the Fantasy Gig 2002. As for Mui Music Show, I don't know if I was watching a really low res video or something but I found the sounding system quite annoying I had to almost mute my volume By the way, are there 2 versions of her 87-88 concert (the first & last shows)? I think I was just listening to her last show because again of the video quality uploaded on YouTube my poor eyes got really strained but still I have to thank the person who shared the video or else I wouldn't have seen such a great concert
Nice to see new fans coming to the Forum.
Is interesting that I happen to see a newspaper article about new fans who get to know Anita after her passing. (see my other posting).
The last time I looked in YesAsia, there were still a good number of products there, but may be they are running low in supply.
Hope more of her concerts will re-appear soon.
Have you tried the local library?
I know somebody told me the library could have a lot of entertainment DVDs, including those of Asian stars.
one of the best movies, ever:
get the Blu-ray edition:
while you're at YesAsia get these audio CDs of these two concerts, the audio quality is excellent:
There's a copy of Fantasy Gig DVD on ebay:
This one is my favorite, it's out of print but the YouTube version is really good, start here:
I just ordered four of the new SACD re-issues; I'll post a review later.
It's so unfortunate that I never got to know her until now. I sure envied those who had met her in person and had interacted with her.
In the meantime, I will keep trying to look for her concerts.
The libraries here have very limited selections of DVDs especially those from Asia. I don't think I'll ever find anything about Anita. I'll just have to rely on YouTube for all her concerts, movies, and interviews.
Please do share more clips or stories of her birthday parties if you happened to be there.
Yes, I have watched all the videos you have posted. The biography is indeed very good and the movie is beautiful. Love her acting and dresses there.
Can't wait for your review
