Does anyone have any information on Gaffikins, Gaffikens in Knocknamuckley prior to 1900? We are trying to trace Denis and his father Thomas; Denis was my husband's grandfather and was born about 1881 in Knocknamuckley but we cannot get confirmation of this. His father was Thomas and we think married a Jane Gibson. Denis and Thomas both came to Scotland and changed their name to McGiffen around 1900.

Have you reached Colin McGaffin with these Knocknamuckley families? If not, write me at rconard@blarg.net Jane Gibson seems to be a second wife and I don't know the first. Denis would probably be named after Elizabeth Dynes, his grandmother and wife of John. Dynes is on the birth record, but Denis is a common substitution. Don't have the 1881 birth but here is the 1857 census
