Would'nt it be great if someone with access to a scanner and a CD burner, and in possession of a copy of Kitty Hawk's first cruise book (around the horn to San Diego) would scan the book, put it on CD, and offer it for sale to those of us who had a copy but had it stolen soon after it was distributed? I think something like that would be worth several dollars and would be in great demand. Just a thought.
That is a very good thought. The USS Bennington Association does that for every cruise book they can get and they offer them for sale in their ship store to raise money to maintain their web site. They have done quite well with them.
The first cruise book, 'around the horn 1961' has an embossed seal logo on the bottom right side of the rear cover with the following data: created by Howard Wohl Associates. Printed by H.G. Roebuck & Son, Baltimore. A Craft Co. Cover. Maybe its possible this company is still in business or has sold its assets and archives. It may be worthwhile for someone with an interest to do a little detective work to see if an original cruise book can be re-created. Meanwhile I will look into the scanning/CD disc suggestion, however it won't be for quite awhile due to a very busy upcoming schedule.
