Help with question about series 2 DVD!!
I have a question which anyone with Jonathan Creek Series 2 on DVD should be able to help me with. All the episodes are anamorphic widescreen but my episode 3, The Scented Room, is on the disc in a more or less full screen format (sort of half widescreen but not properly like the rest, more letterbox), definitely not anamorphic anyway. Can anyone tell me whether all discs are like this? It seems odd that it would have been broadcast this way on TV but it also seems odd that it would be a problem only affecting my disc. Grateful for any information, thanks in advance!! |

You're right: this is a problem that appears on all discs - there is no anamorphic widescreen version of 'The Scented Room' available anywhere. Why is anyone's guess... |

Hiya, cheers for the answer! Since posting I have found out from someone that this episode was actually the first to be filmed out of all the episodes from the second series (even though not shown first) - so it could just be that they hadn't yet started filming in widescreen. This seems quite a likely explanation, since series 1 is all full screen. Apparently this episode has never been broadcast in a widescreen format on TV either, which would seem to support this theory. |

This could well be true. The 4th episode of the first series of the comedy mock-documentary 'People Like Us', for example, was the first to be filmed and was shot in 4:3, while all subsequent episodes were filmed in widescreen. The fact that it is the 4th episode in terms of transmission order made it appear that the DVD had been incorrectly authored, but it was subsequently cleared up by the BBC with the aforementioned statement. |

It may be too late for most of you but the 14:9 episode is on BBC4 tonight. Will it be 14:9 like the dvd or will it be a 16:9 version? |
