Nozick with some "zip" (2 of 2)
Robert Nozick: Analytic Libertarian Pleuralistic Political Philosopher (Maybe? Maybe not?): Talking about anti-capitalist word-using intellectuals, quote NOZICK: Our explanation of the disproportionate anti-capitalism of intellectuals is based upon a very plausible sociological generalization. In a society where one extra-familial system or institution, the first young people enter, distributes rewards, those who do the very best therein will tend to internalize the norms of this institution and expect the wider society to operate in accordance with these norms; they will feel entitled to distributive shares in accordance with these norms or (at least) to a relative position equal to the one these norms would yield. Moreover, those constituting the upper class within the hierarchy of this first extra-familial institution who then experience (or foresee experiencing) movement to a lower relative position in the wider society will, because of their feeling of frustrated entitlement, tend to OPPOSE THE WIDER SOCIAL SYSTEM and feel animus toward its norms. FINAL COMMENT: Has Nozick "above-explained" Ivo??? Just kidding! Kevin |

Did the New World produce any philosopher of value (apart from Rawls of course but Nozick criticised Rawls)? |

IVO: Did the New World produce any philosopher of value (apart from Rawls of course but Nozick criticised Rawls)? How the sun truly "dazzles" the eyes of Europeans. The New World IS the philosophies of Aquinas (for Catholics) and Aristotle (for Protestants). The New World WAS their ideas put into PRACTICE. The American Constitution is written straight out of Bk IV, Chapters 14, 15 and 16 of Aristotle's POLITICS --- subtitled by his translators as HOW TO DRAFT A CONSTITUTION. A country or continent doesn't have "great philosophers" CONTRADICTING each other, when most of the "thinkers" and the "doers" actually practice what Aristotle preached in his POLITICS!!! The leading scholar of the American Revolution, who did not disagree with the other leading American intellectuals (both speculative and practical intellects) was a man named Charles Carroll of Carrollton. He was educated by the Jesuits, when their philosopher was Aristotle and their theologian was Aquinas. America and Canada are Aristotle's philosophy put into practice. You Europeans are Machiavelli in PRACTICE!!! But Americans and Canadians are "catching on fast" to both Machiavelli and European "philosophies". That is why J. Dolhenty says they've gone "insane". The place where Carroll was educated in France was probably in or close to modern day Belgium. He is the only guy who wrote his PLACE OF RESIDENCE on the Declaration of Independence, when some of the other signatories suggested that he would probably "lose millions" by signing the Declaration. Another signatory suggested that there were many Charles Carrolls in the colonies, so the British wouldn't know which Carroll had signed. So he put down his place of residence so that The British "can't mistake me now". Carroll was the richest man in Maryland, if not in the entire "colonies" of the time. He was the only Catholic who signed the Declaration. He outlived all the other signatories, so was quite famous. And he was the best "formally educated" among them, while his education was Aristotelian and Thomistic. Read the Jesuit Constitutions from that time. Aristotle was the Jesuit philosopher, par excellence, and Aquinas was their theologian, par excellence. It isn't so now. But it was so, then, which is WHY all the European "Machiavellians" expelled The Jesuits from every European Country and then had the ORDER disbanded by a Pope. A later Pope reinstated them. But the original "Counter-Reformation" they spear-headed was, thus, thwarted. The American SEPARATION of Church and State was originally designed to keep the STATE out of "religion" and NOT the "religious" out of the business of The State --- distinctly rebutting STATE interference with Religious ORDERS (eg. The Jesuits) and with Religious PRACTICES, per Europe's Reformation hostilities vs. Europe's Counter-Reformation hostilites. Charles Carroll had something to do with that 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, since The Jesuits were expelled from France during his education by them. So he finished his studies in England. Modern American lawyers, judges and politicians have PERVERTED that original intent, at present. Never-the-less CONGRESS shall make NO LAW respecting and ESTABLISHMENT of religion NOR (any law) respecting the FREE EXERCIZE thereof. So the US can neither prescribe nor proscribe a religious establishment. They shouldn't be able to prescribe, Nor proscribe religious PRACTICES. But all lawyers are in CONTEMPT of THE LAW, except where it benefits their clients and harms their client's adversaries. America's founders, right down to the "wildest colonial boy" were PHILOSOPHERS. Most of Europe's "great philosophers" are SOPHISTS. But Europeans don't see such things because THE WEST has "blinded" them, with philosophy-in-practice, which they confuse with POWER. But as Socrates once said, "Wealth does not bring goodness/excellence, but goodness/excellence brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and the state.", which was EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED in "The New World", where Aristotle's philosophy was put into practice by both "the people" and "governments". That "European-philosophers" are confusing everybody in the New World is entirely "predictable", since so many "Old World" philosophers/ies were forced to flee Europe because of the consequences of "goofy philosophies" and "goofy-theologies", or "lack-thereof" in both metaphysical departments.
