Mass Storm and Cape Cod it appears brought the same teams that played in the Chowder Cup. Bay State Breakers were players from Archbishop Williams, Hingham and South Shore community high schools. Leary Club appeared to be mostly players from Boston. I believe Mass Storm and Cape Cod were in the finals, Leary Club posted a win and Bay State finished last. |

I didn't see any of the games at Babson, but I was told by a coach who was at both that the play there was more "high schoolish" and the Challenge Cup was more "prep/DIII level" of play. To which they added, "plus, they had free food and drink here." So I guess you can get a good idea from that comment. |

Hux, What does "high schoolish" mean? The better HS players would be very good players at "prep" Most of these girls play aginst or with each other at one venue or another. |

So your daughter is a prep/D3 player and my daughter is a "high schoolish" player. At the end of the day, as long as they are participating in high school sports and succeeding in the classroom, does it really matter. |

Hey, I agree, participation it what it is all about. I am only relaying what I heard from a coach who was at both events. And his comments weren't made in a derisive manner, only that the age and skill level was different. I don't have kids, so I have no agenda or vested interest in either event. I saw the girls coming in on Friday as we finished up the Skills video shoot (Available in October, see the USA Hockey web site for more details) but unfortunately I couldn't hang around to watch. |
