Hi!
I've been doing lots of research on c-sections, and according to the International Cesarean Awareness Network, a c-section is only necessary if you have complete placenta previa at term. Most of the time, the placenta will have moved by term. Please don't give up. Here is some additional information I found:
Placenta praevia can be divided into four types, of which the first two are the most common:
I the placenta is positioned low in the womb, but the baby can still be born vaginally.
II the lower edge of the placenta touches the opening of your cervix, but does not cover it, so the baby can be born vaginally.
III the placenta partially covers the opening of your cervix. The baby will need to be born by caesarean section.
IV the placenta completely covers the opening of your cervix. The baby will need to be born by caesarean section.
Unless you have COMPLETE placenta previa, then a c-section is not mandatory. I know you're far along in your pregnancy, but if I were you I would do lots of reading on it, go on other chat rooms and ask women what they went through, too. I know that you want to avoid major surgery, and I don't blame you!!! |
