OK I'll get to my question but first let me tell a bit about myself and my history.
This is my 6th pregnancy (EDD 12-7-07) my first baby was an emergency c-section (I was knocked out so dont remember any of it) because my dilation was all over the place my water broke at 39 weeks 3 days and after 17 hours nothing was happening so I had a section, oh my labor started long before my water broke by the way) he was 7 pounds 2 ounces...OK on to baby #2 my water broke at 33 weeks and he was born 36 hours later VBAC 5 pounds and healthy as a full term baby..then # 3 she was born at 38 weeks 3 days 6 pounds 13 pounds VABC...#4 38 weeks she was 6 pounds 6 ounces VBAC & # 5 born at 37 weeks 6 days she was 8 pounds 6 ounces..shoulder dystocia it took them 2 minute to get her out and her collar bone was broken in the proses, she still scored 9/9 on the apgar tho healthy little baby..anyway I'm told it was a SEVRER case and they did NOT believe she was going to come out..my OB said my chances are 50/50 of it happening again. Its up to me rather I try for a VABC again but I wont take that chance all I keep thinking is what if it happened again and this time baby didn't come out...so I am going to have a c-section. anyway my question is do they put the catheter in before my epi or not? and will I HAVE to have it in for 24 hours? I HATE be confined and will want to get up as soon as I can. I know how a section heals as I've had one..but the catheter now that I dont remember I was not really with it for a full day after he was born because of the long labor then being knocked out for the emergency section. |
