Here is a clue, but "I WILL MASK IT".
"While some addicts were busy cooking the riddle, others were more single-mindedly continuing their own pursuit ... quite regardless of the news that it had been found. Their own theories had come to seem so convincing that no exterior evidence could refute them. These most determined ... believed ... a better solution, awaiting them at their favourite spot. ... continue undismayed by the much publicised diversion ... looking forward to the day when he would greet them as the real discoverers of the real puzzle ... . Optimistic expeditions were still setting out ..." Though the path has been revealed, the mindset remained the same. To know the source is to solve that infamous anagram, the obvious inspiration from which all armchair hunts followed. |

Quite an inspirational quote.....a Kit Williams anagram as many already know, but having read my other postings, can you now see the obvious double entendre in the quote, "....but I WILL MASK IT." The "I" once again represents the Roman Numeral One, but there is another clue in the sentence suggesting a key part of the solution......my interpretation ---the "I" is actually masking the "T" in the word "IT" So the clues here are that the Roman Numeral is part of the code/mask, and that unmasked/deciphered it will reveal the "T", which is part of the solution. Further support/confirmation of this comes by looking at the Party Chapter picture of the person sitting in the chair (can't remember if it was Amanda or someone else). Once again recall that there is always a play on words and double entendre with Crypton.... Look carefully at the eye/I of the person and note that the word 'rabbit' is immediately behind the eye. More specifically, the 'it' of rabbit sits directly behind the eye of this person. So you have the eye/I/One masking (note that everyone wears masks in this chapter) the T/tea. There is much more to this, but all consistent and supportive of the simple "single-minded" (one/I-minded) path to a solution.
