What Reason can There be for Cloaking a Solution in Mystery
This note is directed more at Robert Wealleans, since he is a believer in the Nemo solution. Speaking now, years later, with no reward to gain, from a less biased perspective....... I have studied the solution as presented by Tony et al....in much detail, analyzed the exchange of dialogues between Renan, Hoffman, Tony, numerous other puzzle solvers, etc., etc. The obscurity of the solution, the leaps of faith and the lack of, rational, logical reasoning leading down that suggested path are simply inconsistent with the rules of the puzzle, the M.O. of one Mr. Hoffman and the numerous solid clues as uncovered by a number of intelligent treasure seekers whom I have followed over the years. In the end you have to ask the question.....why no official confirmation of the puzzle solution? If it were the actual solution as devised by Hoffman, why the veil of silence? Why would anyone involved in the creation and solution of the puzzle ever sign a document which prohibits disclosure of that solution. It simply does not make sense. I assure you, the solution to the rabbit's card is much simpler and undeniably unique, but very straightforward. I'm not sure how well you knew Tony, but do you find the least bit of coincidence in knowing that the proposed solvers of the puzzle were both lawyers, and that there was a lawsuit filed to the state attorney general seeking release of the Treasure solution (from California....as most states would not require such a formal disclosure). Tell me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tony or his cohert lawyer take part in that initial suit? I certainly would like to hear the rest of that story....but I think it would require some very good detective work. The fact that someone involved in that questionable activity, actually ended up with the prize in hand (the horse), be it auction or otherwise, and that the prize money was donated to BB of America, on which one of these individuals was a board member, is too much for me to accept. I don't expect an associate of Tony's to comprehend our inability to believe in his solution (our perspectives are too far opposed as a result of our experiences in the Treasure hunt), but maybe you can shed some light on some of the unanswered questions.
