The truth behind the Treasure
In 1985 I traveled to Crater Lake State Park. I discovered on Wizard Island (a small volcanic Island in the Middle of the water) all of the details in the book. There were actually stones with dates carved on them. If a person remained on the rim, they would not see the main clue. You needed to walk a small path inside the volcano to see the tree covered with vines shaped like a perfect horseshoe. The end of the old tree looked exactly like the horse's head on an old carousel. When removing the vines there were three granite stones inside the curve of the tree. I removed the stones and dug down 1 foot. I later learned that the clue was the doll with black shoes - it was two feet deep. The umbrella and the man with black gloves actually has the two paths drawn on the umbrella and the small X is where it was buried. If a person takes the map and copies the sections out of each chapter, and puts it all together, they will see the four point in the park where you can view where the horse was buried. This was the original site - The "cemetery gate" was a white tree bent over near the entrance of the path. The lions were two rocks that actually looked like lions on the top of the crater. You will see a map of Crater Lake on the globe, in the book, which serves as a picture of the round lake, the round volcano and the shape of the top of the volcano. The Crater Lake LODGE actually has a deers head on the left side, just as in the photo of the lodge in the book. All of the clues in the BOOK are there. I was 1 foot short. I just figured I would mention all of this, it was a big interesting experience and your site made me re minis on all the times. I made a video of everything, but I believe it was lost in a move and we have been unable to find it. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. |

Looks like you had some good memories of Treasure. I lost lot of stuff moving too, but one thing for sure nothing can take away your memories. |
