I haven't visited for a very long time, but saw this post. I have always believed the pig represents HOG (horse of gold) and is running in the directions one needs to follow. There is also MORSE CODE in the bushes, and on the river itself, so it is a very interesting drawing. |

Captain Nemo said the trees were the "Bacon cipher". How do you get bacon? Applying heat to the pig. The 'pig' is a HAM running on the SHORE...the text says he was "more powerful than she had remembered"; he's running on an island...it's the SHORE HAM nuclear reactor on Long Island. It's her father's fireplace where he's polishing the statue. If you go 'upstairs'(due north), you're in New Haven, CT at a location a six-year-old girl belongs... |

John---- One thing I've always noted regarding this "puzzle" is that you can basically make whatever you want to fit, to fit into the puzzle. If you are dead set on seeing connecticut in everything you will see CT everywhere. If I want to see South Carolina, then I will see Steamboat and Calliope (SC) as meaningful symbols on that page. One has to be very careful one doesn't fall into that trap. It's so easy to do, because we want "our version" to fit so badly! :>) --Joe |

To the most omnipotent Joe Spirling: One has to be careful of putting their version on other people's postings. I never said I saw Connecticut in "everything" or "everywhere" I looked...just in the appropriate Connecticut puzzle. I was actually responding to Bruce who may have enough intelligence to understand an absolutely 100% correct soultion. I'm sure you know there are dozens of puzzles, including the Connecticut one, that one must put together to formulate a correct solution. The Seth Haley Elementary puzzle actually connects to the information given by Captain Nemo at TPC. And, I noticed you created your own "version" of the text when you responded to Dennis. You said the sentence was, "Somewhere in the earth THERE is buried a horse of gold." The word "THERE" is not in that sentence. One should be careful when quoting puzzle text... |

John--- No need to get touchy. I did not mean my post as an attack or insult in any way. I truly wish you the best. I'm not sure what you mean by a 100% correct answer--because no one has one or there would be no need for this site. Everyone is still searching. I was simply pointing out what can happen to someone who wants there solution to be the correct one. Let me give you an example: My sister became convinced that Treasure was buried in Oregon (due to many "clues" including Crater Lake in the Mr. Maps chapter). From that point on she began to try to fit the solution for Treasure into her idea---she began to see Oregon in literally "everything"---and this is because she wanted to. I have seen this happen to other people. They leave the true "search" to try to make their own conception fit. This was all I was saying in my post. One needs to follow the "clues" and not their own ideas--that's all. I would not feel the least bit insulted or angry at someone who pointed that out to me--I would thank them for the reminder. But take it any way you want. All the best in your search!! --Joe |
