I know I am shooting in the dark on this one, but I am looking for anyone that may have known my dad, late John Roy Jobe, AD1. He served in the Navy in the 70's and got out February 1980 (not sure, but since his last Duty Assignment was the Kitty Hawk, I think he was on the October 1979 deployment to the North Arabian Sea). His DD Form 214 shows him as a AD-6415 TF-30 Turbo Fan Jet Engine Technician and AD-8241 Utility Aircrewman. He past away in November 1993 and I am just trying to fill in holes of his Navy Career. It would be great if someone knew him or know of someone that was stationed on the Kitty Hawk during that time. If you have any info please send me an email. Thank you Josh.
I remember your dad. We weren't friends, but I do remember him. Mostly I recall him having to deal with a drunk one night in the IM-3 berthing compartment when we were on duty onboard Kitty Hawk in Bremerton.
He was in AIMD (Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department), IM-2 Division and I remember him from the '76-'77 overhaul in Bremerton.
I was in IM-3 Division and all the AIMD divisions worked together during the overhaul rehabbing berthing compartments, heads, work centers etc.
And lastly AD2 J. Jobe is in the '77-'78 WESTPAC cruise book. I scanned the pics and will send them to you if you email me.
