Thanks Gill. I rode the kitty when it moved to the west coast. I was in HU-one & took it on a mid Pac cruise
To Pearl' I had the Helo detachment.
I was also on the Ranger When we met up with the Kitty , We had a drag race, Ranger won, It made
'Hot Rod Magazine' Saying 'Super Carriers Drag in The Pacific' I think that was in 1964.

I got another fellow retired Fire Inspector who was on TV tonight at 1830 being interviewed pier side as he rode the Kitty 40 years ago.

I was aboard from Jan 1962-Feb 1964. Member of W-Div. The race with the USS Ranger was in April 1963 just before the Kitty Hawk was replaced by the USS Constellation. I still have copies of the memos sent from each ship after the race. Sorry to say that it is true that we came in second that day.
