This is for the people that don't understand the power of numbers.
Aug 17, 07 - 1:02 PM |
THIS IS A MUST SEE !!!!!
This for all the people who have the wait and see attitude. I just don't get it. Doesn't everybody realize the power the Atlantic City dealers would have if everyone joining the UAW? I came across a extraordinary video that is an excellent example of what I mean. If you don't understand the power in numbers after witnessing this 8 minute video you never will. THIS IS A MUST SEE !!!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM UAW >>> YES !!!!!!!!!!! |

excellent video!! That's what I keep trying to get through to these people that want to wait and see. The more dealers we have, the more power we have. Why do you think the casinos are trying so hard to stop us from being union??? |

OMG................I was in a sweat watching that.........how incredible that those buffalo had the intelligence and courage to stand together and fight off such a formidable enemy........even a lower form of life such as animals realize there is strength in numbers!!!! Dealers............how can anyone possibly make it any clearer to those that don't realize that when every dealer in AC is united and joins our UAW Dealer's Union........the power we will have???????????????? There is nothing to lose and everything to gain to stand together and support one another!!! Even if you think you are content with what the casinos will give you now and just happy to have your job........why wouldn't everyone want to stand together united and support one another ?????????...... The dealers that have voted yes and become UAW Dealer's Union members want to keep our jobs too........but we want to have more of what we deserve..... better wages...........better and less costly benefits......job security......make it a career where people can support their families without having to work 2 jobs......... When I began dealing 27 years ago my health insurance was excellent.....didn't cost me a cent....I didn't get points because I was sick and had to take a day off........I didn't have to maintain a certain number of hours to keep my full time position....there weren't even any part time dealers then......I didn;t have anyone spying on me too see if I was smiling, bubbly and saying the players names..........geezzzzzzz.....and somehow the casinos still managed to prosper.........we have lost so much and continue to lose.........why would anyone be content with this????? |

It is all good and dandy- if it can only be true. As a co-worker who is going to retire this year, after opening up Resorts back in 1978 said, "The mascot of the Atlantic City Casino Dealer is the Jellyfish. They both have no spine." The union losing elections at Hilton and the Marina is proof to show the UAW that Atlantic City is a city divided. As dealers we are not united 100 percent behind the UAW in this union drive. We know that we can see the figures on paper. Management will not give in to our demands without us proving our resolve to them. Any contract will have to be won by a strike. That is for sure. And I know for a FACT, even prople who I work with at the Taj have said they are ready and willing to cross picket lines for $12.00 per hour plus tokes to fill in for striking dealers. So are many part time dealers in the city. We are waiting to see what will happen at Caesars, Plaza, Bally's. The dream of having all dealers unionized at all properties before negotiations begin is lost. It ended with the defeats at the Marina and Hilton. Dealers are not ready to walk out on strike. I myself can barely make it, with 3 kids, 1 on the way this Spring and basically kicking in 95 percent of the household income with my full time dealing job. My $50,000 per year job is adequate for me, it gets me by. But I can not afford to strike- no way. And many dealers fear the same thing- a STRIKE. But let's see what the Caesars dealers get. Let them go out on strike, sit out there for 3 hours just like Bally's dealers did in the 1980's and then walk back in. (I heard that the company had secretly agreed to a contract to pay the dealers $10 plus tokes with a great benefits package- had the documents ready - but the dealers walked back in!) It is a wait and see attitude indeed. The UAW is not going to pay my $2,000 per month mortgage, $350 per month car payment, $200 per week food bill for me, that's for sure. |

acdealer, First off all I for one don't think you are a acdealer, with your go on strike comments you sound like management. Secondly all you ever do is come on this site and say that acdealers are spineless like jellyfish, well it's you and your wait and see attitude that are spineless. Lastly, why would anyone that already has the three children and cry's poverty have another child? P.S.: You don't have to wait and see what the dealers at Caesars get, they already got BALLS. I did notice that people was spelled wrong T. |

Hmmm, $2,000 a month mortgage. $350 a car per month ( figuring there are 2 of them ). And $200 per week for food. All that equals $3,500 per month in expenses on a "$50,000" a year job. Wow ...you must really just be getting by seeing as how that all adds up to $42,000 a year. Don't forget we haven't even deducted taxes from the "$50,000". Haven't added Gas and electric and other utilities. Hmmm....kind of blows a big hole in your "claims" that you are a dealer. Cause if you were there is NO WAY you could live this life. You are so full of Sh#t!! Why don't you take you BS , "acdealer" and sell it somewhere else. Cause either you are a BS artist or you are the dumbest person alive to get yourself in a situation like that. I am putting my money on you being the BS artist. Good try though !! |

Yes, JD, (I saw it), and Gimp, I love it!!! Yes you both are right. And it also looked like this "management poster" had his secretary type this for him or her. Come on management, STRIKE THIS! Sorry, went down to this person's level. If you try to get us to see the loss of income with a strike, so be it. Did anyone get reimbursed with the shut-down by Corzine last year? When that happened, did everyone fall down and die form the loss? Calling out sick for 3 days, is such a loss of income, because we don't get tokes, we are used to losing money. For unseen occurrences, which are hanging over our heads all the time, why would this ACDEALER get himself in so much of a debt? 50K is good for you? Well, yeah, it can buy a bunch of kool-aid. How do you feed your kids?. Can you take them to a dr. whenever you want? I don't know where you work, but at the Harrah's properties we have this "stubbed toe" insurance. I hope you and you kids are healthy. The one coming, did you check to see if all the people who will be delivering this baby are in your plan? Do you really know what's going on? And if you are fishing to see if we are planning a strike, or whatever, you are not going to get that info here. Nobody wants a strike...we want bargaining in good faith. A legal right. |

AC Dealer, What if we had a Catrina or god forbid another 9-11. Obviously you are doing your family a great injustice by not having a safety net. Some families lost their safety net because of no job security.(YOUR FIRED) Sound familiar. Or how about being part time with no insurance, then getting into a accident. Oops there goes every thing you have down the drain to pay for medical bills. At least you have a full time job. (at the moment) But if you do not stand up to secure that job, you might find yourself with many others who are partime with no opportunity of getting full time. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK. I have talked to many Hilton dealers who are now regretting their decision. As far as the Marina goes. We will see. The ball is still rolling no matter how long it takes. Trump can offer a $12.00 . Is it worth the risk of being fired at any time? Or insurance that will not cover your family? Because that's where its heading if you don't stand with us. The wait and see attitude is the spineless jellyfish. Take your blinders off people!! |

Just to comment on the 12 dollar issue....it was just a raise in the CAP!!!! Not a 12 dollar hourly wage. They can make a CAP 94 million dollars, and it will take just as long to take you to that CAP even if you are at $8 dollars. When it takes a dealer 23 years to get to $8.50, come-on. Think about it ACDEALER, we will be retired or dead to get to the $12. 3 cent raise, or none at all. So hang in there ACDEALER. You must have a wife or partner who carries the weight and insurance in your house. Hope all is well with the kids and the new baby. |

Enjoyed the video. Sticking with the metaphor, notice how the predators attack the most vulnerable member of the herd. Also, they retreated when they lost their advantage. Just my $0.02. |

HMMMMMMMMMMMM somehow so called "ac dealer" keeps forgetting that about 90%% of the employees in AC are union members???? The casinos bargain with all the various different unions and locals........and have been since the first casino opened it's doors in AC!! gezzzzzzzzza a certain people used to be forced to ride in the back of the bus too......till one woman couragesly took a stand against it..........and started a movement....and Caesar's, Bally's, Claridge, Wild West, Trump Plaza dealers have take a stand.......and soon Tropicana......we plan on taking charge of our futures.......the movement has been started baby....... If someone wants to be a "spineless jelly fish" as it appears 'acdealer' is........that is entirely your perogative buddy........you go ahead and barely make ends meet...........live paycheck to paycheck....sure hope you don't get sick or injured ........cause if you're out too long guess what???? Your tush is out on the street.......then what cha gonna do huh???? OMG.......How on earth will you be able to send those kids to college on what you make and what your expenses are???? Guess you want to work 2 jobs..........have to pull 16 hours shifts, like so many dealers in AC are????? Heck..... you're going to have to work 3 jobs sweetie.......by the time those kids are college age and the way the cost of living goes up and the rising cost of college tuition.......and your pay check stays the same........and your medical insurance costs go up and up and up.......... I can't stop shaking my head in wonderment......that anyone would not be willing to fight for their future and their families futures??? |

I think the ((( Gimp / formally "not illinformed from caesars"))) Is trying to divert everyone's attention from the original purpose a viewing this video......... The video speaks for itself....... After viewing this video and you still don't understand the concept of group participation you may seriously need to consult a psychiatrist. That is, as long as the psychiatrist excepts (( CIGNA )) insurance........ LOL UAW YES !!!! |

I agree with "The Person Who Started this" the video says it all it was great. I disagree that "Gimp, formally know as Not Illinformed" is the one who diverted from the original subject. The way I read it is ACDEALER diverted and the ones that followed are justifiable statements. For we all are sitting here wondering what this person "DOES NOT GET"!!!! I guess it is a little hard to understand when the facts are in front of someone and they can still make comments as they do(ACDEALER)! I guess some people will never accept the truth and we are only hoping for his family's sake he does. We are trying to protect our families, ourselves and the future casino employees. Remember, our children are the future!! One day they will be out looking for work and I can only hope that they don't feel the wrath of his ignorance. To all the UNITED AC EMPLOYEES, Strength is in numbers, (as originally stated) "VOTE YES" "VOTE UAW"!!!! God Bless!

Actually, being a spineless jellyfish sounds like a pretty great thing. Floating effortlessly in the water, minding its own business, enjoying its existence in life, not bothering anything or anyone, UNTIL something comes along and screws with it- it has to defend itself by whatever means possible, hence, the STING!!!! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!!! |

A fantastic video! Much like the predators in the video, uppers target the most vulnerable in their anti-union efforts. I think a similar show of strength @ the TROP would speak volumes to the Dealers there. Come on "Herd" let's make it happen. UAW YES! BECAUSE WE CAN! |

Good luck Saturday, TROP, and with all the days following your vote for a voice in your future. Sunday will be the first day of the rest of your life. |

This is a great post. And whatever helped Trop with their vote, this, us ( the fellow dealers), and the UAW....it all comes down to the the TROP dealers sticking up for their rights and dignity, and not succumbing to the corporate tyrants. Great job fellow water buffaloes! See you at the hall. |

Fellow water buffaloes are the herd who we are, as depicted in the video which generated this part of the site you just responded to. Aug 29th, 2007 - 10:12 AM |
yes, Helen, This video should be posted on the website opening page. And M, I just wanted to clarify the difference of the water buffalo and the jellyfish, for new posters, new readers, and management checking in. Sorry. Didn't mean to undermine the stinging capabilities of the spineless jelly fish. Are snakes spineless, too? We know a few of them, don't we? |
M
Aug 30th, 2007 - 8:22 AM |
Actually, having a spine or not, ALL animals have some sort of defense mechanism to keep bothersome entities away, whether individually or as a group. They stay strong to themselves, and protect each other in times of duress. Hence said, we all need to stick together for the good of the whole. I am very, very proud of our efforts to fight off the corporate money-mongers who are attacking our very existence. A guy stands to make $94,000,000+ for HIMSELF, yet refuses or does'nt care to show any respect for the people that work the front lines. Man, I dislike corporate greed.... |

Aug 3rd, 2008 - 8:49 AM |
Yes there is power in numbers,,,,,,,,,just look at what's happening at WalMart stores.......the Wal Mart Company is so afraid of the power their employees would have when they form a union...... .....they are actually having meetings and putting pressure on the workers not to vote for the political party in the upcoming election that is for the 'Freedom of Choice Act'..... The dealers need to realize the power they hold in their hands.....standing together.....like the water buffalo.......the dealers will SUCCEED!!!! Oh and Wal Mart will not be seeing my family's business...... UAW Union Dealers STRENGTH IN NUMBERS........!!!!
