Go traveling Australia
GO TRAVELING AUSTRALIA . . . Retirement, for many people, holds an unknown fear choice of what to do now we're retired, really unclear prospect of being home 24 hours a day, very boring now is the time to get away from it all, go exploring There's old towns, museums, historical places making new friends, yarn by campfire, new faces listen to the birds, singing their songs, day or night sit and watch rising of sun, end of day's fading light Marvel at nature's pallet of colour, autumn or spring scenic, beautiful panoramas, faraway horizon unfolding sunsets in deserts, rainforest, mangroves, ocean shores follow in footsteps of early explorers who have gone before See drought stricken and fire ravaged land, fish in river sight and size of some aquatic animals make you shiver eagles and hawks, brolgas dancing, facsinating sight owls, possums, sugar gliders, wombats, watch them at night Burning cane fields, majestic river gums along water courses see wild flowers bloom, camels, feral pigs, wild horses listen to the wind in the trees when camped near billabong this is retirement, whole new world opens up, life's evensong Orchards, vineyards, rice and cotton fields, see the irrigation sheep stations, cattle runs, the backbone of our Nation aboriginal rock paintings, shell middens, hear the didgeridoo sight a lyrebird, dingo, cascading waterfall, old man kangaroo Retirement, best part of our life, travel Australia, if you can see our beautiful country, open spaces, throw away your plan memories of places visited, implanted forever on your mind beautiful Australia, a big country, one of a kind. copyright Cas van Loon, Bush Poet For more of the same poetry about Australia visit www.aussiebushpoet.blogspot.com |
