What does DX stand for !!
Dx means long distance, on radio. Discussion and debate on what we do on this link belongs here for our constructive input too. The aim behind the link was to bring people together from a distance, utilising the echolink (ham RADIO) software. Either come and be apart of what ham radio is all about or workout what the off switch is for and work DE. 73 ZL2ADR |

DX means distant transmitter (transceiver) depending on your perspective of SWL or AR operator. DX can fit within the VoIP world as demonstrated by the KB2ZHE's use of the EchoLink network. Obviously it is not 100% RF but it is communication at a distance with internet/RF gateways. It is a multiband, phone network with the advantage of reaching out regardless of an individual operator's situation and die-hard involvement in "classic" AR. If KB2HZE called it just DX system I would balk. Adding the "Linking" to it makes sense with regard to the true nature of what is being done here. We are making contacts with distant transceivers, nonetheless. Let the RF DXer's wait for sunspots in their lonely hamshacks. In the meanwhile we can chat away about more than the wx and what rigs we have. |
