3) Election
4) Opposition Parties that could publicly oppose a leader

The problem is Ethiopian people have been abused by their leaders for many centuries, they mistake "Freedom of Speech" with "Freedom of hate and abuse to their opponent." Look what is going on in Kinijit, they are calling each other "Woyane" trying to silience each other. Meles is great, too bad he came in this century when Ethiopians are still far behind other nations, and still don't understand what "Democracy" means. He is hated for brining great changes to Ethiopia. But history will remember him as one of the most effective and visionary leaders Ethiopia ever had! The man is ahead of his time for Ethiopia.

please don't say Minilik is better than meles zenawi.
that is an insult to all oromos. Minilik killed thousands of oromos and put amhara on top of everyone. he never gave anyone freedom, he never used unity volutarily. it was basically colonization. changing all oromo cities to amhara, killing thousands of oromo to change Adama town to Nazret, to change Finfinne to addis ababa.
for the oromo, Minilik is the worst person in their history!!!

i rather have the egoistic Haile sellasie than minilik.

Yes saying "ethiopia tekdem" while millions of rural people are suffering and dying is cruel!!! that is more than pride!! you will not understand what i am talking about unless you saw thousands of my people in poverty!!
please read the bible about such kind of pride---Proverb(mesale) chapter 8 verse 13; Proverb chapter 11 verse 2; proverb 16: 18 ;

you see you ask for help while you change your countries policies. that is why many members of eprdf went to study economics after they went to power. when they got to minilik palace, they didn't start shouting pride while millions were dead. many got degrees. ato meles zenawi had 2 degrees on business and economics. he had honorary doctoral degree too. he placed many new policies to work. but we have bado bado money, so what do we do?? do we just watch people die like in 1972 when wollo was ignored by haile sellasie???? do we just ignore millions in poverty like 1980's by mengistu??? NO!!! we get help!!!

we are not going to sit and do nothing when our people are dying.

i really don't think you know anything about economy and politics. because maybe you are writting when you are DRUNK or sleepy because if you say we use our nile branch river just like that, you are really really out of touch with reality.

i don't know if i should continue to discuss with you because you speak very generally and you don't really follow any specific things. even the least educated person knows that if we just take and use our river, we are asking for war with egypt.
please don't embarrass yourself.

we need to improve our economy and we live in the free market age and world. to get in this competition you have to do what you are good and so meles bringing policies for agriculture and bringing more output was the correct path.
to do infrastructure development you need billions of money. we only have 10 billion income. we have basic needs, military budget, institution budget and many many basic ones and when we are finished we will have very small money left. so no, we can't be a closed economy. please read the difference between an open and closed economy.

anyway you need to read more on how economics and politics are connected and need to know basic economic policies.

the other thing you said about people stealing money, trust me, if you read the news from extremist website, they even say Meles zenawi is the demon or devil. these website are entertainment only. just jokes. get your facts, not rumors please.

anyway read more, you care about our country, that is good!! but you need to learn more on how you can use your passion for our country constructively

A "million" Oromos???? What? The whole population at the time of Menelik was probably 10 Million at the most, so eradicating a "Million" people would have been 10% of the people. Stop exggarating, just like the current nemises of Meles, who exggarate everything, Menlik's enemies are exaggrating numbers. I said Menelik is the best because he was one of the leaders who brought so many new techonology to Ethoipia, Electricity, Train, Modern education, Photography, roads, and most of all he protected Ethiopia from becoming a colonial slave to Italy. Meles has his weak points, and his enemies are making the same exaggrated claims to make him look worse, eventhough he has accomplished a lot for Ethiopia. Balance and fairness is what is requried.

but in more than 10 years the killer of oromos murdered many thousands and many OLF historians say it might reach a million.
colonization of a big area and people is not going to be easy with only 1,000 oromos killed!!
everybody knows there were many thousands.

okay, the other thing you talk about rich woyane supporters, my ethiopian friend, even i know many ethiopians who support woyane and they are still poor like listro boys. the difference is you need to educate yourself, be bold, entrepreneurship like american way, and be successful. the woyane supporters like this are becoming very rich. so i don't understand why you are mad of other's success.

but let me tell you that i am not blind to woyane corruption. i know some members of woyane are very very corrupt. but the real story is all government's even in america, reward their partners and sometimes they do too much and corruption prevails. we see corruption in every every country.

anyway understand that i am not going to make excuse for woyane corruption and i already read NEWS about europrean company helping solve corruption in urban areas. so they are trying to improve just like other countries are trying to reduce corruption.

again, i also blame them of corruption and i hope they solve it. that is all it comes to.

anyway go back to the main discussion of policies, economics etc..and read and learn about these things because i think you have the passion to help our country.
