Meles zenawi is leaving!!!!!
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=18025 Ethiopian PM says this might be his last term Gemeda Humnasa December 14, 2006 According to an interview with the Washington Post, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi says this might be his last term as the leader of the EPRDF ruling party of the government. Meles Zenawi, who was the interim president of Ethiopia from 1991-1995, has also been leading his EPRDF-led government as PM for two terms. After overthrowing the Marxist dictator Mengistu Haile Mariam in 1991, this western backed Ethiopian government has been applauded for bringing democracy to the country. It has also been the first government to hold multi-party elections in the country’s long history. However the reputation of the ruling party has been harmed by various events, including the alleged genocide of the Anuak ethnic group in western Ethiopia. Yet after further investigation and according to what was reported in the New York Times, after jailing those responsible, most of these extra allegations seemed to be dropped since the violence was caused by ethnic disturbance. Ethnic Nuars and Anuak groups have historically been enemies and groups that are locally named “highlanders” were supposedly inflaming the clash during that incident. Despite such controversies, the government has been supported by various western governments and the Prime Minister has received various international accolades for his role in solving conflicts and driving the development efforts in the impoverished country. Even though the government claims that some of the opposition parties are functioning in unconstitutional manner; the parliament has been very diverse, representing more than five opposition parties. The number of political parties and the free elections showed how much the country has improved democratically. However, only America’s Carter Center applauded the fairness of the most recent elections while the European Union concluded there were too many “irregularities” to fulfill international standards. According to many opposition party members, it will be a big positive step for the country’s democratization if the prime minister steps down from office after his current term because of how past Ethiopian leaders & Emperors have historically clinged to power. Recently, this has never been done before in this country, where Ethiopian clans and ethnic groups often fought against each other to claim the next throne. But according to Washingtonpost, PM Zenawi stated he had served “enough” and he might step down after this term. Even though the Prime minister said of his last term, he suggested that his party, if elected, will try to continue for more terms without him. Ethiopia held all its democratic elections under PM Meles Zenawi’s government and the country’s GDP has been growing nearly 10% a year, but the nation has also been struggling with militant groups in its The Prime Minister answered various questions to Washington Post, while being interviewed about the problems in southern Somalia. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=18025 |

"Economic growth?" Oh reallY? Economic growth for whom? Only for you woyanees! You have controlled all the buisness activity in the country. The Ethiopian people live as destitute as they have been for generations. "Starting Democracy?" You must be jocking. Is killing 10 years old children a charcter of a democratic government? |

Meles is smart. He is leaving Eritrea in anxiety without solving the border issue. The next government can cancel all the agreements signed by EPRDF as null and void and reclaim Eritrea as part of Ethiopia. Meles is smart. He is bringing Somalia under federation with Ethiopia soon by February 2007. Bravo Meles! Go Meles! Go Meles! Go Meles!

Geremew, You wouldn't know democracy or development if they both slapped you on both sides. Ethiopia had 200MW until 1991. Thats electricity enough for a small town. Gonder alone is now consuming electricity more than what all ethiopia in 1991 used to consume. I brought you an example thats completely separate from politics, except for you tesfabisoch everything is politics.lol |

Meles knows well the woyanie-tigraians are beyond repair. He knows, no Woyanie will be able to rule Ethiopia from now on wards. This is what Meles is admiting - the Woyanies era is over. |

Woyannie, You guys are amazing! You talk about about development while you lock up 80 years old "shimagles" in jail, and kill 10 years old children infront of their mothers. TPLF/EPRDF's only new achivement was the installation of free press for the first time in the country's hitory, but that is gone now. You have put all the free press journalists in prison, and there is no single independent news paper. So you have achived nothing new after toppling facist "Derg". |

Meles knows well the woyanie-Tigraians are beyond repair. He knows, no Woyanie will be able to rule Ethiopia from now onwards. Meles knows, being a minority Tigraian, it is miracle to rape and exploit Ethiopia for 16 years in this day-and-age. This is what Meles is admitting - the Woyanie era is over. |

Meles's trick answer lies here. He said: "Q. And you personally? A. And me personally, I think I've had enough." Yes "personally" he is sick of being a PM, after having ordered the shooting of thousands of innocent youth. But behind the screen he will force Woyanes to ask him to beg him to continue as PM. Then he continues to be a PM, not "personally," but because Woyanians "begged" him to continue as PM, to stay in power. He then indeed becomes the ultimate savior, the unwilling hero. What a smart alec, this Meles!! |

Read "Aiga" the opinion maker, the crime endorser and the insider of Meles's murderer regime, and you will understand what is cooking behind the screen. The story of "Meles leaving" is just a hox. He is trying to tell the international community that he is not one of those life-time African despots. The reality however is, Meles still wants to stay in power as long as he is alive, and he is asking the woyanes to beg him to stay in office just to pretend that he is asked by the people this time around. Remember, last time the story was he is asked by the party. Now it is by the people. Next time he will say, he is asked by his wife to stay in power. Then he will finally say, he is asked by God to stay in power. The story will not end. Forget about elections and peaceful change of government like Kenya etc. As usual, we are heading to an ugly and violent end of another descredited regime. We are not new for this. No Ethiopian leader in history has personally and willingly left office. They cling to it untill their disgraceful end. |
