WE believe it is extrEmly important to oranize and set up a body of MEDIA WATCH.

ONE OF THE REASONS, PROGRESS GETS TANGLED IN ANY RIGHT DIRECTION AMONG OPPOSING FORCES, IS THE POWER OF REPRESENTATION OF EACH PRINT AND MEDIA SOURCE.

CONCERNED AND NON AFFILIATED DIASPORA ETHIOPIANS AND ETHIOPIAN AMERICANS WILL BE IN A BETTER POSITION TO REACH THEIR OWN JUDGEMENT CALL, THE DIRECTION THEY WILL TAKE IN THEIR CHOICES TOWARDS A FAIR AND JUST DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM, IF WE HAVE A LEGALY ESTABLISHED NON PROFIT MEDIA WATCH.

1.We believe any legitmate gathering of a mass acttivity and the participants RIGHT and INTELLEGENCE should not insulted, labeled,devalued etc.

2. Polerization of State related to RELIGION should not be exploited.

3. Legal BILLS should not be distorted in their presentation to listeners.

So we agree with "CONCERNED CITIZENS", in initiating this subject and or asking for information, to find out if ETHIOPIAN MEDIA WATCH GROUP exist.

For the general listener and or reader in some cases, the clashes of messages from different directions do not serve the concerned citizen who want to be involved and be of service.

In some cases, Ethiopian politics turn out to be not for every body, and instead can have an adverse effect on an individual or a group, and there by, delay the involvement of all in true dedication, or with a clear understanding of choices.

Ethiopian print and audio media is competitive and a few are very good. To sum up, the level achieved by Ethiopian media and the power it has reached need to be matched with A MEDIA WATCH GROUP, which will draft its rules , goal, rating etc.

"(ESFNA) 23rd festival held from July 2-8, 2006 was concluded successfully in Los Angeles. The annual festival attracted thousands of Ethiopians, Ethiopian Americans and friends of Ethiopia all over North America and as far as Europe and Australia! The football (soccer) tournament entertained more than 30 teams".

ONE WOULD EXPECT THAT SPORT FUNS WILL BE THE LEAST SUBJECTED TO THE STATEMENT MENTIONED BELOW.

Mr/Ms. Reality check,

We have found that the web site you refered readers (ethiopride.com),

1. Takes surveys on behalf of ADF, which is fine.

2. It does not have an e-mail address mentioned to their contact, for general accountablity, ok fine.

3. It posts IP address of guests.

Combine all of the above three, some thing is not in place.

As you are refering guests and readers to that web site, please try to reach your contacts to delete any thing that is posted on the guest book so far. MEDIA WATCH has also taken a note of the situation. The main purpose of the visitors was, to address peition issues.

Information is out to public, and it is kind of late. Better not to find other good intentioned visitors find them selves in the same situation.

Thank you for your response. It could be understandable as it is a new website. It has reputable media links, and there is no bad intention in adressing this issue from these visitors.

1.We hope the IP # and e-mail address of visitor 1 will be deleted.

We find ethiopride.com web site irrisponsible and deaf on arrival. Therefore the accuracy of the POLLS COUNT on AFD and the integrity of the web site is open to suspect. In other words, those figures may not be trusted.

Selam Radio broadcasts in Washington and is owned by the Ethiopian government coalition, the EPRDF. Hager Fikr Radio is subsidised by the Saudi Ethiopian magnate Mohamed Hussein Al Amoud...

Inspite of the boycott on Hager Fiker Radio, we have tried to be tolerant, patient, objective, and tried to be political and media students of current Ethiopia.

We have listened sporadic Sunday programs hosted by Mr. Negusse Woldemariam. We have tried to weed out the political campaign and tried hard ti identify the essence of journalism, nationalism, choice of music, facts and maturity.

It is very unfortunate that a radio program host, who probably likes him self as well as Ethiopia, America and Woyane, has a way of imposing a sense of A LESSON IN SUBSERVIENCE. As if one learns about freedom or has felt "free". it is air time to learn to be subdued, governed, controled, dominated, degraded,insulted, and that means more than submision to a mini mode of colonialism. Effective mid-July, we had no choice but to reach a decision not to bother to listen to that Radio Station. Even politics and Patriotism has limits. A person's spirit, soul and mind should not be overly agitated.

Opposition politics and propaganda have existed on this globe for years, but ....this is a differen kind. We are sorry to part, and yet relieved to decide.

It is a shame to strech professional incompetence and/or vengence, to attack and smear a former coleague's personal life, but also attack the persons's family who has nothing to do with the broadcasted brand of HFR's host brand of hostility. ("Zer manzeru ayeto Yemayewkewin.." ). Hager Fiker Radio's Host loses sight during some broadcasts in the process of that personal quest and...........???? Is this journalism? or an occassion for any listener's time to be insulted, abused and degraded???. It speaks volumes on the host more than the intended target.

Mr. Negusie Woldemariam,

If you honor listener's time, please stay away from low grade personal attack and smear. If you consider your self a professional journalist, what ever your political position might be, just present that. The big turn off about your program is the endless personal attack and insult. I do not believe most people will enjoy or listen through the dispicable hate, unless probably they are some saddists. Who cares who has what,unless it has the public's ownership. There are thousands of people under exile by choice or from actual differnces that resulted in imposed exile. It does not sit you on a thrown, to forcefuly state, who can enter the country and who can not as you commented last Sunday. As far as extending your insult to extened to family members, don't forget that, it is those same "zere manzer" Ethiopians of your target subject, your own ancestors as well as ours who left us a free Ethiopia at one point. It is like General Colin Powel's comment, I do not forget that I am here carried on the back of those people who fought for the civil rights movement and made it possible for blacks of African origin. That was his remark even at the peak of his remakable carier as he has held highly honored and challenging positions as Nationaal Security adviser, Five star General/war hero, US Secretary and other notably high service positions. So some times when you insult one individual plus, you insult thousands of other Ethiopians. Then you turn around and complain that your broadcast is unfairly boycotted. I believe some persentage of the Ethiopian audience, even those anti EPRDF, may not mind listening to oppoasing views, but you need a different form of presentation, if I may say it humbly. We used to listen to you around mid nintys, when we return to your program in late 2005, we found two different people in presentation, national passion, personality and what not. So may be that is why we went out of our way to send you this open message.

We have listened sporadic Sunday programs hosted by Mr. Negusse Woldemariam. We have tried to weed out the political campaign and tried hard ti identify the essence of journalism, nationalism, choice of music, facts and maturity. It is very unfortunate that a radio program host, who probably likes him self as well as Ethiopia, America and Woyane, has a way of imposing a sense of A LESSON IN SUBSERVIENCE. As if one learns about freedom or has felt "free". it is air time to learn to be subdued, governed, controled, dominated, degraded,insulted, and that means more than submision to a mini mode of colonialism. Effective mid-July, we had no choice but to reach a decision not to bother to listen to that Radio Station. Even politics and Patriotism has limits. A person's spirit, soul and mind should not be overly agitated. Opposition politics and propaganda have existed on this globe for years, but ....this is a differen kind. We are sorry to part, and yet relieved to decide.
MW Aug 14th, 2006 - 9:00 PM	Re: MEDIA WATCH August 14, 2006 It is a shame to strech professional incompetence and/or vengence, to attack and smear a former coleague's personal life, but also attack the persons's family who has nothing to do with the broadcasted brand of HFR's host brand of hostility. ("Zer manzeru ayeto Yemayewkewin.." ). Hager Fiker Radio's Host loses sight during some broadcasts in the process of that personal quest and...........???? Is this journalism? or an occassion for any listener's time to be insulted, abused and degraded???. It speaks volumes on the host more than the intended target.

If you consider your self a professional journalist, what ever your political position might be, just present that. The big turn off about your program is the endless personal attack and insult. I do not believe most people will enjoy or listen through the dispicable hate, unless probably they are some saddists. Who cares who has what,unless it has the public's ownership. There are thousands of people under exile by choice or from actual differnces that resulted in imposed exile. It does not sit you on a thrown, to forcefuly state, who can enter the country and who can not as you commented last Sunday. As far as extending your insult to extened to family members, don't forget that, it is those same "zere manzer" Ethiopians of your target subject, your own ancestors as well as ours who left us a free Ethiopia at one point. It is like General Colin Powel's comment, I do not forget that I am here carried on the back of those people who fought for the civil rights movement and made it possible for blacks of African origin. That was his remark even at the peak of his remakable carier as he has held highly honored and challenging positions as Nationaal Security adviser, Five star General/war hero, US Secretary and other notably high service positions. So some times when you insult one individual plus, you insult thousands of other Ethiopians. Then you turn around and complain that your broadcast is unfairly boycotted. I believe some persentage of the Ethiopian audience, even those anti EPRDF, may not mind listening to oppoasing views, but you need a different form of presentation, if I may say it humbly. We used to listen to you around mid nintys, when we return to your program in late 2005, we found two different people in presentation, national passion, personality and what not. So may be that is why we went out of our way to send you this open message.

Negusse in person,but we were relieved and at peace to find a meaningful, heart felt discussion and a special message in the role the respected patriarch undertook towards a peaceful reconcilation between the community and the media members of Hager Fiker Radio.
