Hello everyone

Hello everyone,

My name is Robert Sanzo. I think that the alcohol and drug prevention program in Middlesex County seems like a great program, and I stand behind it 100%. After navigating around on the website, I have come across a lot of interesting information. Speaking as someone in recovery from alcohol abuse, I think that a life of preventing the use of alcohol and drugs is key to living a great and rewarding life. Nothing good can come from the use of alcohol or drugs, only bad things come from it. I almost threw my whole life away and moved out onto the street because of my chemical dependence to alcohol. For the grace of God, and for only what I call a miracle, I went into recovery, and I stopped the self-inflicted pain that I experienced everyday when I picked up a drink. I am now four months sober, and I live a great life today. I am a junior in college, finishing up my education in psychology, and I am respected today by everyone. I don't have to hide anymore, or what I refer to it as "crawl into the bottle". People think that when they sober up, they are sacrificing a lot. Think about what you are sacrificing when you are a drunk; your personal health and well-being, your job, your family, your education, your relationships with others, YOUR LIFE.... one drink is not worth my life, I made that decision four months ago, and I still stand behind it today. I am 21 years old, and I have to tell myself every day when I wake up that I am an alcoholic, and I have to ask God to remove the obsession of wanting to drink. Take it from someone who has been caught up in it-- use of alcohol or drugs don't make you cool or smarter or more desireable.... they make you miserable and unhappy, and they make you want to stop living. If one thing can be taken away from what I said, take this: One drink is not worth sacrificing sobriety. A life of sobriety is the only instance where a person can achieve all of their goals in life and become who they truly want to be.... a life surrounded by the use of alcohol and drugs makes you become somebody that you don't want to be and you end up hating yourself. Which life is better? I choose life over death any day.. the only way for me to live is in sobriety!

I look forward to meeting everyone at MCSAAC!
